Random bits.

Soo....lots of random things going on here. I went to Target with my cousin last weekend and found some really great jeans...seriously! I think I'm converting to Target for skinny jeans. I believe these are them...but to me they seem a shade darker, so I'll continue searching. How can you beat that price!?

I also scored some William Rast jeggings in black. As in, William Rast has a line for Target! Pretty pumped about that.

In other news, I'm completely ecstatic about cleaning out this weekend and getting ready for my new sofa. We're in the process of getting rid of some excess and re-arranging other things. I thought it would be a good time to pick up the rug under the dining room table and vacuum..how often do you get to do that anyway? You'll never believe what we found underneath...nearly a year's supply of hair ties, bobby pins, and q tips that Calvin (cat) had taken from Alicia's room and stuffed under the rug day by day....

How funny is that!? There was much more, I can assure you.

Sparkle and Shine

As usual, Anthro bedazzles the new change in seasons. Day or night-friendly, sparkle and dazzling outfits are in. But does your budget have to be out? I took a look at Target and found some definite options to fit the trend.

Covered Up

So remember my post about this fabulous poncho/cape at Madewell? I love it. It's $198. I live in Texas, so it'd be warm enough to cover me through Winter. (I probably won't buy it, but Julie's thinking about it!). Super fantastic merino-knit sweater.

At any rate, I thought we needed to look at the competition. We have the cocoon popover, made it double-faced cashmere...yours for only $1,200 (currently sold out, but they'll find a way to provide more).
Anthropologie offers this lovely slight military-esque cape in a green motif in wool. Same price as the Madewell cape, but completely different style/uses.
Then our go-to for the less expensive versions, Modcloth offers the Manta Ray in a wool blend for $72.99.

And if you just want to achieve the cape-look, without fully committing to the trend or the money, hop over to Old Navy (not the greatest quality, but at $30-40, you can risk it).

Fall Looks I'm Loving-Yesterday's for Less

Here is my look from yesterday, but on a budget (and how I wore it myself!) I couldn't find the exact tee I wore...it was from Whole Foods found in a pile of long sleeve organic v neck tees for $14 a piece!!! But this top from Target gives you a general idea...

Let's be honest. We don't live in a dream world where we can buy this whole outfit for a mere $1,204 not including taxes and shipping. We live in a reality where we are forced to find alternatives, that can be just as satisfying and cute no matter what anyone says.

I got a humorous email from Maria yesterday that said "Even if I had the money, I'd rather buy a plane ticket to Dallas rather than those boots!"

So I thought..why not come up with some alternatives? I perused Modcloth and found some cuties for dresses. For 1/4 of the price!! Can you believe it? Obviously not an exact match, but these have the same "feel" of the Anthro look at a fraction of the cost.

I particularly love this one..and the name!!

Here are some Target boots I found for less than 1/8 of the price!!! I do think that spending between $100-150 on boots is very conservative, so feel free to hit up Steve Madden, DSW, or Zappos..

Some Modcloth coats were reminiscent to the plaid one on the model...at less than 1/3 of the cost!

So let's see here...if we total up the most expensive options on this list...we get $243...then go purchase your Anthro head wrap and tights for another $50...not even $300 for the whole look when it was $1,204 for the Anthropologie look!!! What's that you say? Oh I know, I was thinking the same. Now you have extra money for other things...such as food, shelter, and rent...just kidding. I was thinking more about accessories (scarves anyone?), cupcakes, and music.

To romp or not to romp?

That is the question. I'm hesitant, to say the least. Corinne found a low cost option to test the trend.

But seriously, what is a romper?

I looked it up.

A romper suit is a one-piece garment worn by children and sometimes women. Somewhat similar to a coverall, it is loose fitting and usually has shorter legs that may be gathered at the end. Puffed pants are particularly associated with rompers. Rompers usually are meant as a combination of shorts and a shirt, though the term can include jumpers, one-piece bathing suits, and clubwear fashions to name a few.

To me it looks like an easy Saturday "throw on", but will my long torso make this uncomfortable? I can picture this with a long navy cardigan and gold gladiator sandals...or with a short sleeve tee underneath and Converse shoes. It's hard to try a trend when your wallet is at stake, but for $20, I'll attempt any fashion risk.

How Tuesday: How to Look Cute while Pregnant

Ok, I am absolutely not pregnant. But it does seem like absolutely everyone in my life is. That is an exaggeration (I learned that from my big sister). I also have a lovely friend, Grace, who is undergoing an unusual amount of hardship while being pregnant, and recently asked me what my sisters wear while pregnant because she was only finding ridiculously cheesy shiz at the store.

I've searched high and low. I've listened to my sisters. This is what I've come up with. How to look cute while pregnant!

1. Tank tops. In the words of my sister, Virginia, "they help hide bulges". Fantastic!
2. Cardigans. Just throw one over the tank or a simple tee!
3. Maternity jeans. I found some at Target surprisingly, but I know that Citizens of Humanity and other designers make some as well. Choose whatever fits your budget!
4. Long skirt/dress. This will hide your legs (if you want) but make sure that it's in a breathable fabric so you don't overheat!
5. For summer, a swim suit---now there's just not much you can do to make this cute, but I did find some cute ones on Target online!
Now for a few looks! (note, none of them include tie around the waist crap---I think that makes you look so cheesy! sorry if that's too abrupt...)

I don't think that pregnancy=lack of cuteness. You can still add some jewelry (or a headband!) to your look to complete it and feel great.
