Royal Fascinators

This DailyCandy video has me intrigued. Hat maker Eugenia Kim shows us how to make quick and easy fascinators in this short clip.

My cousin Cindy (the one in S Africa) asked me recently what I thought of "fascinators" that the British ladies are wearing lately. Being that I am a maker of headbands and hair pieces, I'm obviously a fan of head wear in general. Lately I haven't been wearing much more than a bun on top of my head, but the upcoming nuptials might be an occasion to change that.

Kate Middleton is a frequent wearer of these feathers, and keeps it classy and fairly simple.

Inspiration can also be taken from SJP, and she definitely isn't afraid to go the extra mile!

The last stretch of warmth

So I was totally going to blog about the fact that we're going to a relaxing lake house this weekend. And how I'd be pulling out my bathing suit one last time. And how we'd be getting some sun (and wine and coffee etc) but today's DailyCandy changed my mind..
Meet Emma of Emmadime:
a) she's TOTALLY cute! She's a freelance graphic designer and knitting aficionado.

b) I'm obsessively in love with this mustard knitted bitty bow headband.

The end.

Monday Inspiration....What I want to work on this week.

I want to branch out from headbands (I will still make these, of course) into the exciting world of necklaces...I think I can use some of the same materials I've gathered to create something similar (not identical of course) to these examples...what do you think? I started working on some last week and need a few more supplies before showing a finished product!

It'd be a fun way to repurpose some of my materials as well as try new things! :)

Girl crush..

On Leighton Meester. Who doesn't agree really!? This Gossip Girl has people hooked!

This weekend I intend on making some "Blairbands" (what the GG's headbands are nicknamed on the show) because they're so freaking adorable.

How Tuesday: How to Make a Statement

Do you ever feel "blah" in your clothes? It happens to the best of us, but have no fear. Today's "How To" is about turning your blah into bold, and turning some heads in the process.

(1) Try a bib necklace. Pair it with simple trousers and a solid top. Here's one I found on Etsy that is gorgeous, but you can go more ornate or more simple if you like!
(2) Try a headband! Obviously I was going to say that. It's a great way to cover up a bad hair day or add some fun into your look. I love this one I found online and am trying to figure out how to make it:

And here are some of my own, all found here:

(3) Wear a funky cardigan. This is another predictable thing for me to say because I have an OBSESSION with cardis.

This one is from Urban Outfitters, one of my favorite places for cardigans. It's only $32 so it also won't break the bank!

I know I only have three steps in this how to, but I think those are literally the three steps I follow on a daily basis....hope this helps!

To-Do list...

I love "to-do" lists, however I hate when I leave the hardest tasks for the end. I really want to launch my etsy shop but I have some loose ends...

1) Finish business cards
2) Order shipping supplies
3) Order labels
4) List inventory

....

I'll probably add three more things before the day's over. Maybe after I actually do it, I can make a "How to" about it!?

**sneak peak of one headbands..

Oh, ps, tomorrow's "How to" is on how to layer your clothes. This was suggested by my fabulous sister Virginia who says I'm the queen of layering. I think I should be tied for queen with my roommate.
