Big Deal.

Have you seen the Madewell Spring Look book sneak peak? Pretty jazzed about the looks...I pretty much love each and every one of them.

In other news, my couch arrived today!! At the exact moment that I sat my tush in my chair at work, my phone rang to tell me they were on the way to my place...super. :)

Waiting

Patiently waiting for warm weather. I realize Texas has hardly ANY cold weather, but it's mostly because we don't do well with the cold.
Madewell's email blast today makes me ready for shorts...and the weather that comes with it.

Love that blue color too!!!

Thanks, Jenna

Thanks for the affirmation Jenna! I was pleased that I snagged the last tunic at Madewell weeks ago (in my size, in the color I wanted..perfecto). It's been at the dry cleaners for a few days, so also...thanks for the reminder to go pick it up! :)

***also as a follow up, the paint color on our door is Laura Ashley Mustard Gold!

This just in...and now stuck in my mind.

I get emails daily about new arrivals..promotions...sales..from TOO many places (JCrew, Madewell, Borders, even Joanns). Something has to stop, because I look at the email today from Madewell and my mouth falls open with how delicious their clothes are...so unique and urban chic!

My favorites...

-the tea party dress. I can even imagine rocking this for a winter wedding (oh and there will be a post at a later date about that..), but I prefer the burnt sienna color.

-the fair isle twilight cardigan. This is adorable, and surely not just on her with her side swoop bangs and fantastically dramatic eye wear.

-what? wedges? who me? guilty of obsessing over them? yes...the suede wedge bootie looks wonderfully comfortable, and my roommate is obsessing over them right now too. They come in several colors, but we both agreed these are the most pleasing to the eye.

Anything you've got your eye on? I better find some "looks for less" before I get into trouble!!!

Aaaaaaaand.. a little shout out to "Dr. Kenneth Noisewater" on his birthday!!!!

It's the collegiate way.

Fashion week is upon us. What is my single most favorite article of clothing? The cardigan. What is the style this Fall (carrying on from Spring)? The collegiate cardigan. While I probably won't go so far as to stitch a letter and cheer "gimme a B!", I'll take my cues from NYFashion any day.

Love this paired with soft, feminine ruffles.

You know I'm obsessed with this look...from her locks to her specks to the skinny cheetah belt wrapped around her waist. Love this Madewell cardi.

Hello Mr. Cutie-pants (and by pants I mean butt).

Simple. Masculine. Structured.
The cardigan is uber prominent in my closet...from grey to stripes, from prints to bold colors, from short sleeve to long, from Cotton to wool...I've got them all. I still manage to pick up a few new ones a season (they're my weakness!).

Alexa Chung for Madewell

Alexa Chung is really pushing for the socks + sandals/shoes look this Fall. The models wearing her line for Madewell are repeat offenders in nearly every preview!

I have these shoes on today (in the suede version) (sans socks) and love them. SOooo comfortable.
Cue model on the right---with that poppy red top? Looooooove the sailor buckle belt she's sporting.

Pairing a cute fitted blazer with poppy red shorts-sure! Why not? Just pack some pants should you run into snow or sleet...

Obviously, I'm ready for Fall.

Fashion Don'ts

Daily Candy has one lonely male editor named Dan. Over the weekend he gave his opinion on fashion don'ts...or at least those fashion trends that don't do it for guys. A couple of them CRACKED me up and I just had to share...

1) Socks with heels. This one cracks me up because I could be ok with it...especially when Madewell makes it look cute.

2) Raccoon eyes. Well this girl looks terrible, but I am a fan of dark shadow, especially purples. I just try to add highlighter by the brow to tame it down.

3) Denim on denim. Never been a fan of this. Sometimes my roommate makes it look cute with a lighter chambray and darker (even more tailored) jeans on bottom. Overall, the denim tuxedo still scares me..

Oh how I wish I had another Sunday!!!! :(

Fall Bags

The question most likely going through your head right now is: "Ann, how often do you use the Who, What Wear email blast for a blog subject?" I know, I'm hooked! But it's so useful! Spot on! Trendy! Stylish! I don't need an excuse it's my blog! :)

Anyways, moving on to handbags. Overall, for fall (ha-rhymed!) I'm seeing animal, studs, textures, fringe, and buckles. Love! My favorite below is the black texture Jerome Dreyfuss bag.

And my favorite bags around my three favorite stores (cue Anthro, Madewell, and JCrew) are here:

Love the fringe on this one!

The chains and buckle (and SMALL fringe!) are spot on here:

Love the distressed leather and the buckle!
Have any favorite handbags out there? Show me!!

Fall Accessories: Pucker Up

Fall is bringing lots of subtle accent trends this year, including lips. I've been stalking the likes of JCrew, Anthropologie, and Madewell (surprise, surprise), and this is what I've found:
Nude lips (which I have yet to perfect, and am not ENTIRELY sold on the Target lipstick linked below) and an overall flawless face:
Try a bronzey shade (shown on Anthropologie's models) to obtain that perfect Autumn feel.
And my personal favorite, electric lips. I also love the orangey colored lips JCrew has been showing, but this one is definitely blog worthy. Keeping the rest of the make up simple, and the skin looking flawless.
She has killer attitude!! (and killer hair)

Early Fall shoes to rooms/life

With Fall just around the corner, who isn't ready for those darker colors? In Texas, however, I have to keep in mind the warm weather lasts even though the styles change.

Here are my three favorite "Texas Fall" shoes, and my three favorite upcoming Fall colors...

(1) Shadow blue~shoes by JCrew (and seen previously in black in their adorable short film with that adorable model) and the same tone casting a shadow over the house in Nola..

(2) Mustard yellow~ don't even get me started on my obsession with this color and these shoes. Shoes by Anthropologie. Love the color peeking out in the room and furniture too..

(3) Neutral neutral neutral~shoes by Madewell (my roommate just bought them and I may or may not be wearing them today). Love the simplicity of this color and the clean feel in daily life.

Fall Hair

I think I'm ready for Fall to arrive...with these numerous 100+ degree heat days still lingering on, I long for cool breeze and cardigans. Time to lengthen your locks and get ready for the next season.

I love Fall the most out of any season. Texas does not promise severe Winter weather, only Summer heat, so you can get away with cardis and scarves through most of the holidays.

This Fall channels simplistic, yet sophisticated hair, somewhat akin to the 30's dos.

From Madewell, the modern up-do:

Also from Madewell, the wavy part, shoulder length cut (I'd like my hair to be a couple inches longer than this):

From Anthropologie, the sophisticated loose bun (p to the s, don't you LOVE and ADORE that dress??):

Also from Anthropologie, the loosely pinned hair:

Weekend wishes

Ingredients: comfy clothes, comfy shoes, pool, good company, and a large cocktail.

Mix one part super straight denim....

With one part summery shirtdress...

And add fabulously funky sunnies...

Not exactly what I had in mind, but I could go for it all the same..?

Happy weekend :)
