It's Friday

Things that make me smile today.

1. This jam, sent to me by DailyCandy. I have to get my hands on Miss Eliza.

2. Ava Witherspoon---seriously how adorable is she!? I was reading about them in the U.S. Weekly while enjoying some coffee this am.

3. Let's go ahead and make that #3 on the list...coffee. Coffee gives me that morning jolt I need to open my eyes a little bit wider (even though I endure 60 minutes of work out before it). It also makes my heart race just a bit so I plow through a few hours of work right in the morning.

4. A couple of Tumblrs I've tumbled upon (wah wah). First off-what they hey is a tumblr?! I'm working on figuring that out just yet. Nonetheless, the unofficial JCrew tumblr is fab (appropriately named 770 after their corporate store), as well as this tumblr called cognac and coffee (yes please).

I think that sums up my loves for the day..that is until I start perusing the Internet and that list continues to grow.

Braids.

Is anyone else as obsessed with braids as I am? I would have done my hair in braids today, had I had time this morning. And as a side note, I'm completely obsessed with the new Britney song.

Already?

Gasp! It's already Monday again?
Loving her look.

On another note (a musical one, to boot), have you checked out Adele's new kick ass CD "21"? You really should.

OOTO

You heard me. I'm out of the office...and out of commission. Leaving on a (few) (long) jet plane(s) to Africa....

See you in a week...maybe?

In my absence, go ahead and buy the new Radiohead album. Things like this don't happen every day..

Jammin.

I'm quite ready to escape to Africa...got Cyn's play list (as requested) ready and anxious to get this show on the road.

Happy Friday!!

Time for Honky Tonk.

Grab your boots, cuz we're goin dancin.

Billy Bob's is calling our names this weekend...the famous FW honky tonk bar. What does a not-so-country gal wear to a overly honky bar? I take my cues from JCrew, Madewell, and Steve Madden's western spin and keep it simple :)

Random bits.

Soo....lots of random things going on here. I went to Target with my cousin last weekend and found some really great jeans...seriously! I think I'm converting to Target for skinny jeans. I believe these are them...but to me they seem a shade darker, so I'll continue searching. How can you beat that price!?

I also scored some William Rast jeggings in black. As in, William Rast has a line for Target! Pretty pumped about that.

In other news, I'm completely ecstatic about cleaning out this weekend and getting ready for my new sofa. We're in the process of getting rid of some excess and re-arranging other things. I thought it would be a good time to pick up the rug under the dining room table and vacuum..how often do you get to do that anyway? You'll never believe what we found underneath...nearly a year's supply of hair ties, bobby pins, and q tips that Calvin (cat) had taken from Alicia's room and stuffed under the rug day by day....

How funny is that!? There was much more, I can assure you.

To add further to this non-cohesive (is that even a word?) post, I love this song. Not your average 12 year old...

Over.

Can you hear the horses?

This song makes me freakish..dancing around uncontrollably whether in the car, in my bathroom, or in the living room. I just can't help but fly my freak flag and get into the music!!

The New Taylor

Swift looks FANTASTICALLY HOT. Wow...great lips, great hair..much needed improvement as she moves from "little girl" to "woman"...wow.

Momsen still looks awful. She needs to take a lesson from Swift.

Music for your liking.

It's Winter. My music taste usually changes with the weather. I say usually, but it doesn't always happen that way. Sometimes I need the jumpier tunes in the cold weather to keep the spring in my step. Sometimes I prefer the more mellow route. All in all, this is what I'm listening to right now.

1. Two Door Cinema Club-Undercover Martyn

2. Neon Trees-Animal

3. Islands-Don't Call me Whitney, Bobby

4. Sufjan Stevens-Casimir Polaski Day

5. Fitz and the Tantrums-MoneyGrabber

6. The Beatles (totally jazzed that they're available on iTunes!)-From Me to You

Enjoy the musical tastings today. Happy Wednesday!!

Musical Snack

Last night, LE and I went to see Sufjan (pronounced Soof-yan) Stevens. Now, I was a little unprepared for this concert, in that I hadn't made it through his new album, The Age of Adz. If you've listened to the other albums he's made, especially the ever popular song Chicago, you'd expect to find a guy, a banjo, a recorder, a piano, some trombones, and some string instruments.

That is not how this went down.

There were two go-go girls as backup dancers/singers and a plethora of electronic equipment displayed. Granted, I really did enjoy some of the new songs (the album came out 9 days ago, so sue me! I hadn't gotten through it!!!), but I was longing for those folksy banjo tunes such as Chicago and Casimir Pulaski Day or even The Henney Buggy Band. But midway through the show, he even confessed that if that is what the crowd was expecting, he was sorry...but that wasn't how the show was going to go.

When he announced a song around 10 pm that was going to be a "25 minute long journey..." LE and I split after 10 of those minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I really did enjoy the show..it was just a bit surprising.

I will admit to forming a slight crush on him...for his sexy (speaking and singing) voice and cute butt..however I'm pretty sure he's gay.

Regardless, I'll probably listen to most of his tunes throughout the work day today :)

Cold Shoulder

I think I've figured out one of the main reasons I love Blake Lively (Serena on Gossip Girl).

image via Who What Wear

What do all of these poses have in common? Her ability to give the "cold shoulder" with a smile/smirk on her face, and while looking fabulous.

I love her attitude...in her physique and in her clothing choices.

In honor of Blake..Adele's Cold Shoulder...another girl with attitude.

Back to the present.

I am still alive! Survived two activity packed bachelorette parties in two cities for two great friends!

Sara and I being goofy at the bar..

Yesterday afternoon I wanted to crawl into bed and sleep it all off, but instead my roommate and I went grocery shopping and cooked up a storm for the week! Homemade vegetable soup (w/ Adzuki beans which are PACKED with good stuff), orzo pasta with shelled edamame and sauteed onions, and yellow (gluten free) cake batter cookies. We are set for the week!

This week will be full of errands and relaxing as I get ready for another fabulous bachelorette party...actually more of a "cousin trip" to Wimberly, Texas for my lovely cousin Erica. I can't wait to catch up with my cousins and drink endless amounts of coffee and wine all weekend! I hope the week speeds by.

Also...just picked up (and by picked up I mean downloaded off my iPhone) the new Ra Ra Riot album, the Orchard. Pretty tasty so far! They pre-released "Boy" a few months back, so you'll probably recognize that one.

Slow to Start

Monday already? I had such a full weekend I am shocked that Monday is already here. My sister and I participated in our first craft bazaar/flea market which took up all of Saturday. Celebrated my birthday that night with great friends (I have the best friends!!!) and laid low yesterday.

Any new music to suggest? I just downloaded the Sara Bareilles' new album this morning. Liking it so far..

Tomorrow I hope to share with you pictures and stories about the bazaar! :)

What are you waiting for?

Can't read my poker face.

Gaga is among us. Making her way to Dallas today and tomorrow for some no doubt, fantastically zaney and out of control shows. I am super jealous to those attending and kicking myself for not getting tickets. At 24, she is on her way to becoming the next Madonna.

Real name: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germonatta
DOB: March 28, 1986
School: Tisch School of Arts, NYC
Inspirations: David Bowie, Queen, Madonna, and Michael Jackson
Voted: Included in Time Magazines 100 most influential people in May 2010, Forbes 4th in the list of 100 Most Powerful and Influential Celebrities in the world, and second most powerful musician in the world

She took on the name Lady Gaga after a glitch in the beginning of her career correcting "Radio Ga Ga" to "Lady Gaga".

Some of my favorite images...

Who DOESN'T love this outfit?!

The famous teacup accessory...

She's so cool someone has already remixed her song..

Dog Days

That's often what I think of Mondays...dog days. Right? It just takes a minute or two to readjust, stretch, yawn, and get into the week. Good luck!

btw...this video is totally zaney...clowns and all...trippy.

and a second video of the same song...just as strange...blue go-go girls anyone?
