Falling in love with JCrew...

Went to JCrew the other day, as aforementioned re: corduroy pants. I used to work there a few years ago for a few years..so I still have friends there. Snagged a new catalog along with my purchases. Zany Erin Wasson is on the cover:

the cover & a pic of her featuring my new cords!

Jenna Lyon has some tips for fall, and we should probably just go ahead and follow them.. found on the home page.

Google Analytics

I love tracking this blog. Do you know what this means? In less than one month I've hit 1,000 visitors!!!! Thank you :)

Love, honored blogger Ann.

Zany Selby.

So I am just seeing this site for the first time. And for the life of me I cannot remember how I came upon them...whatever. Deal with it :)

Basically, the Selby features photographs, paintings and videos by Todd Selby of interesting people and their creative spaces.

I checked out a couple posts. It's confirmed---Erin Wasson is a rare breed. She's featured throughout the upcoming JCrew catalog. (Drat, I meant to snap a photo of the one I picked up yesterday while on the cords hunt...Thanks Ivan! I'll post tomorrow...)

Cords. The Debate.

So I had a continuous debate about cords. I wanted skinny cords, that fit well in the booty and in the length. I toy with the idea of mustard yellow cords...Well, I'll just show you all of the ones I had stalked...and still stalk..

(2) JCrew ---remember these from here?
(3) JCrew

(4) Gap

(5) Gap
So I tried on (2) in the store. And they were...ok....but not that great....I thought about going to try on (1) but wasn't in the market for anything else there, since their sizing seems funky to me and my booty. Gap is going through something...a phase? A life change? Whatever it is, I am not sure if I want to get involved just yet...So I went back to JCrew and tried on (3). Let me tell you---the perfect mixture of comfortable/easy cords and GREAT fit! I got them in graphite!
Side Note: I also got fantastic toothpick black jeans at JCrew on sale...but for some reason they don't show up as sale online...
So what if I buy ankle pants and wear them as full length?? Sigh...

How to make a witches brew...to get rid of a cold

My mom swears by this brew...as do I. The ingredients in it are simple, but the effects are miraculous. My friend Corina got a cold 3 days before her wedding and fully recovered by the big day. I just made it over the weekend for Julie and she suggested it have a spot here. Get ready-the entire house will smell of garlic, but your nose will thank you later.

Ingredients:
1 quart low sodium chicken broth
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp lemon pepper
(I also put a tsp of chili powder)
2 bay leaves
1 entire bunch of garlic (or around 15 pods)
1/2 bunch of parsley and cilantro, fresh

In a blender/Quisinart, add a little bit of the chicken broth with the garlic, parsley, and cilantro. Blend until completely pureed. Move mixture to pot with all other ingredients. Bring to boil, then turn heat to low.

Drink the brew (and breathe it in while doing so) 3-4 times a day until it is finished. If your nose is stopped up, do yourself a favor and buy a neti pot. It's totally weird and crazy, but deal with it because it will clear that cold up faster.

Oh Monday...Sip, Sigh...

Today I started Monday off on the right foot..and the left. Went on a fast walk with my friend KO which, not only benefits our hips and thighs, but our spirits as we catch up on the weekend and solve life's many problems.

(we looked very similar to these girls...)

Over the weekend I snagged my copy of The Sartorialist and began to pour through it, remembering Scott's old posts and marking some favorites.

Khaki update: Julie and I tried on all the Old Navy cargos and were NOT pleased. HELP! Just a few weeks until we join the elephants and we do not have khaki...

Save me some money, honey!

So, I've had several requests to share some sites/ideas of how to LOOK like Anthropologie/JCrew but not cough up the dimes...
These are just some ideas I've gathered through personal research of online shops that have the same "feel":

-Shabby Apple has some CUTE dresses that are around half the price of Anthro (roughly $55-85) and great for work, church, dates, etc!

-Spool No. 72 is breathtakingly precious...delicious jackets, cutesy jewelry, and even a dress that seems to be the TWIN of Anthropologie's!

see..

-Janey Clothing's playfill skirts are to die for..
That should get you started...there's a blog that frequently mentions these and other shops, Modish. My cousin showed it to me :)
And regarding accessories, honestly, have you taken a look at Forever21's website?? Get your booty on over there because they have the cutest things! Yes, it's cheap and not just regarding cost, but it's a TREND!! It doesn't last forever..
Want more? I'll keep digging...
OH! Also, I keep the Anthropologie and JCrew magazines handy and flip through them for ideas on what to do with my OWN closet...I'm sure I could make a "How To" post on this so I'll save this for later..
