Fore!!!

Over the weekend I went to my friend Luli's house.  They live off of the golf course so we watched as golfers and fans walked by for the Byron Nelson.  One hand for your margarita and one for your taco, and all eyes on the green.  Rain lasted for less than half an hour, which didn't seem to stop the fans and players.  We walked along the green and watched a few players putting before heading back to stock up on snacks :)

What does this have to do with fashion or footwear?  Well we saw a variety of outfits and shoes donned that day.  Most of us wore metallic sandals and dresses or shorts, others wore un-walkable shoes and suffered up and down the green.  Some dressed festively in argyle and golf shoes.

All in all, we had fun and chose not to distract the golfers by keeping our chatter to a whisper :)

A tribute and a thank you.

I'd like to be featured on the Sartorialist. No I take that back, I'd like to be the Sartorialist. Capturing fashion in every day life, on the street, in a cafe, at a bar, at the grocery store. I'd probably back track in technology and take Polaroid shots. I'd probably recruit a few friends to help cover the masses, fellow fashion addicts. What I love about Mr. Schuman's posts is he has such an eye for different types of fashion. Sometimes I stop and stare at people walking in the mall and just take it in. My mom and I do this wherever we go. Stop-politely stare-discuss. What did we like about the look? What did we not? What would we change? How could we recreate it ourselves using the textiles and embellishments we already have? Does the look represent a new trend or a twist on a classic?

This post I've chosen as my current desktop background. I usually use one of his photos until I'm inspired by another to change it, which could happen twice in one week.

If Mr. Schuman himself ever read this post, I'd like to say thank you for feeding my hunger for daily global fashion. He presents it in its most raw form-in daily life! No spot lights, no airbrushing (right?), just ordinary people going about their day. Wait, I'd like to look that good in my daily life...

Jolt of Juice

So this has to do with neither fashion nor footwear, but fruit!!!! I do not think there is a more delicious way to start the morning than with Jamba Juice. Still out of town for work, which slightly squashes my morning routine since I have no fridge of food or secret stash of oatmeal when I get to work. I must go hunt and gather for food (well, not literally, come on.) My coworker and I took a short walk and found paradise-in juice form! After much persuasion from the Jamba juicer, I got a Pomegranate Paradise:

Hopefully it will eliminate me feeling like this:

And help me have a jolt of energy like this:

Let's be honest, I will not be jumping for joy with over-sized cordless phone and Journal in hand, but I'm sure that's more work appropriate than me in a bikini on the beach with a Pina Colada....ho hum... Happy Tuesday!

Note: For those of you who are wondering, I wore Day 35's Bitten grey peep toes!

The Airport.

I will be travelling for a few weeks for work, so I travelled via plane today. The airport has rules to follow, and I'm always shocked when I encounter someone who has not heard of said rules before their date of travel. It's been a few years now that you are required to remove your shoes before going through security. Some brainiac hid some device in his shoes at one point and now we're all paying for it.

Today I chose to wear Day 11's Foxy Flat because removal is easy and rushing through the airport is effortless. It got me thinking about the shoes you should not wear to the airport. Those with laces, difficult zippers, or strings. Those with heels greater than 3 inches. I'll just show you what I mean:

Of course you don't want to be wearing these just because they're comfortable, or really ever:

well at least until you're 90. Regardless, I try to remain inconspicuous at the airport; ticket and ID ready in hand, shoes off and laptop out, step through without beeping, putting shoes back on, scurrying to gate. Minimal drama, maximum satisfaction. With that said, I think I might prefer driving over flying next time...

"And now", Max cried, "Let the wild rumpus start!"

The shoe project is finished! Here are the ones you have voted to toss!

Now, upon careful consideration, I have voted to toss a few pairs, based on EXTREME discomfort. I think you'd agree that sometimes, there's no gain in pain.

And two because I flat out JUST don't wear them. They shouldn't occupy space in my closet!

And only one pair am I tossing because they're worn out and need replacing. I'll be on the hunt as I re-enter the shoe purchasing world. (I STILL have not bought a pair!)

It has been an amazing journey. The end result of my closet, you ask? Drum roll please....
Do you see that? Emptiness on the top shelf? Is it time for a few new pairs? Honestly I've brought it down to roughly 33 work appropriate shoes. Amazing right? This closet did not look this amazing when I moved in. It was SALMON from ceiling to floor...my mom painted it white and my uncle hung extra shelves to fit my shoes :) I have bags and boots at the bottom. This has inspired me to purge throughout my condo...clothes, dishes, nick nacks...I want a fresh start in my condo, sans clutter, sans mystery boxes at the top of the closet.

Black in Half.

This is hard. It is! Black heels are a staple, but I have quite a few. I have the houndstooth variation of Day 2, Day 13's Cocktail shoes, the patent pumps from Day 21, The peeps of Day 50, the wedges of Day 39, the buckles of Day 43, and the infamous Audrey classics on Day 18. Did I miss any? The point is, it's a pair or two too many. Let's start the duel over the patent pumps and the peeps.
As aforementioned, due to the limitation of my blog, I cannot change the titles of the voting buttons without changing all the days. Vote "Keep" in favor of the left shoe and "Toss" in favor of the right!

The left are Day 21's patent pumps. They pinch just a touch, but probably could be stretched at the cobbler if voted to stay.

The right are Day 43's fierce buckles. These are stylish, but I have discovered that style in this case does not come without severe discomfort. I suffered a war wound in the top of my foot from these shoes and there is STILL a mark...is it worth the sacrifice?
Without further adeau, the shoes...

"Keep" for lefties, "Toss" for righties.

Animal Instincts

My instincts tell me to only keep one pair of these...They are quite different in style, but I do not frequent either pair enough to stow them both. Don't you agree?

The left are Day 23's Go Tigers flats. Full of texture, comfort, and Italian class. I was pleasantly surprised by the response on these shoes, and found myself liking them more and more as the day went on.

The right are Day 15's Wild Thang pumps. These Tahari's brought in a positive response, though they do not seem to get on my feet more than twice a season...maybe I haven't quite broken them in? Maybe I need a spicy heel to stay? You decide!

And now for the shoes...

"Keep" for the left and "Toss" for the right. It's a jungle in my closet...not for long!!
