The great escape

I'm off to the city to play for the weekend.

(borrowed from a room somewhere)

Introducing: Style Me For The Weekend! Brought to you by the A's of Fashion

Recently my friend from college, Anna from In Honor of Design asked for my help in collaborating a style page for our mutual friend Rose's online magazine. We had so much fun doing it we thought we'd share our first style page with you and continue to brainstorm biweekly for our blogs :) I look forward to it!!!

We're looking for more fresh, cute designers (especially the bargains!!) to feature so let me know if you're interested!!

Happy weekend!

Grocery Store on Mondays

My roommate and I went to Central Market on Monday and what did we find (besides the oddests looking produce)? TONS of young, single looking guys, grocery shopping. It surprises me every time I go on a Monday because I forget, but I believe Monday is single's night for grocery stores.

My friend Jen wrote about it too, which cracks me up because I had been thinking the same thoughts!

As I was searching for a picture to post, I came accross aerobic grocery shopping...ok never heard that one before...

Wedged between.

So...what do we think?

They're new to anthropologie ... anyone want them in their closet (or mine)?

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

Blow Away

"Blow Away"
One of us is gonna be here and
One of us is gonna be running
Off alone into the great unknown
You're not me, you're a model of freedom
All you need are your kicks when you need 'em
Come and go, caught that slow alright
With one hand off the side
We get farther away in the blink of an eye
And it's the time we waste
Swallowed into space
It's the time it takes to blow away
To blow away To blow away
Hey, hey you, yeah you gotta be leaving,
Say what you want, what you say, say anything
No one knows just how deep it goes
We are old in your teenaged tyranny
And all you need is a hunger to feed
I've got my own secrets though, say what?
With a heart full of mess and lore
We are doomed but we wanted more
It's the ride we take
The many winged escape
It's the bough we break to blow away
To blow away
And we blow away
One of us is now retreating
You knocked me down so hard
I'm seeing a thousand stars
Come out where you are
'cause I won't ever be caught crying
And I will not be taken lying down
It blows into smoke
The time we waste
Swallowed into space
It's the time it takes to blow
It's the ride we take
The many winged escape
It's the bough we break to blow away
To blow away
It's the times we say that no one's gonna take your place
It's a mistake to blow away
To blow away
We blow away

How to Make Lemon Chicken

Where's the fashion in chicken? Fine, fine. I know this is a non-packing, non-fashion, non-shoes, non-organization "How to", but I just cooked this, and everyone ALWAYS begs for the recipe, so I'm going to post it.  Besides, how can you stay on top of fashion and last in those fabulous pumps if you aren't sufficiently fed?

My sister got this recipe a few years ago and we've been addicted ever since.

What you'll need:
a large saucepan with a lid
olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan
1 tbs of butter
chicken breasts, thin (you can split them if you like)
lemons
lemon juice
egg to dip the chicken in
flour to bread the chicken in
seasonings of your choice to add to the flour

How to:
1) Cover the bottom of the pan with olive oil and add the butter.  Heat the oil on medium to low heat.
2) Dip the chicken in the egg, then in the flour/seasonings mix.
3) Place the chicken in the pan and cook on medium/low heat.  Turn when done on one side.
4) Remove chicken when cooked.
5) Turn heat to low/simmer.
6) Squeeze 3-4 lemons in the pan and stir the crumbs/oil into the lemon to make a sauce.  Add lemon juice if you like extra lemon (which we do).
7) Place cooked chicken back into the pan and cover with a lid for a few minutes.
8) Serve and enjoy! I like to make rice or pasta and a vegetable with it.

End result:

MMmmmmmm...

It's raining men!

Right....if only....then I would choose from here or here.

It has been raining NON STOP here for weeks. It really gets in the way of my morning walks with KO and any kind of semblance of good hair. How can people look like this when it is raining?!

I think I end up looking more like this...

So I find myself with mussed hair, wet clothes which then dry and have that weird smell to them, and generally hiding indoors waiting for the rain to stop. Which it hasn't. In weeks. Oh Mr. Sun, where are you?!
