Amarillo by Mornin...

That's right. Happy Friday to you all--I'm off to Amarillo, TX for the weekend. Crazy, right? My mom's parents live there and we are bombarding them this weekend. Me, my two sisters, their two very tall husbands (whose names start with the letter D), their (collectively) five little men (Joe: 8, Leo: 6, Henry: 4, Teddy: 2 months, and Moses: 10 months) and our mom. Gone are the days of visiting them as the three peanuts with our mom (and every Barbie we could fit), and here come the days of packing slip 'n' slides and footballs.
We have lots planned for the weekend, including visiting "the Thrift Store" (which I have not yet been to...my cousin Cindy scored several pairs of boots there over the winter) and seeing "Texas"; a musical of our history with the backdrop of the Palo Duro Canyon.

What, you don't know about Amarillo? I'll give you some tidbits.

1. Palo Duro Canyon: the second largest only to the Grand Canyon in the United States!!!
2. Texas: I have seen this musical too many times to count. It starts out "We'd like to welcome you to Texasssss" (chills!!!) and near the finale ends with a starry sky and thunder.
3. Cadillac Ranch: This is located off of Interstate 40. I'm pretty sure Pawpaw tried to tell us he drove the cars into the ground, but that was a tall tale (as most of his stories are).
4. Wonderland Park: We won't be making a stop this time, but this was a favorite to me as a kid. A fraction of the size of Six Flags, but twice the charm.
5. The Big Texan: eat that 72 oz steak and get it free...are you up for the challenge? We're going to eat home cooking from Mammaw instead :)

Skirts

I love this skirt. Right now I love most skirts. I have a skirt on today...clearly obsessed.

And I love both of these. Ticked the green is out in my size..

So comfortable for work...though now my legs are freezing in my -40 degrees cubicle..

How Tuesday: How to Prep for the 4th of July

The holiday is approaching...and I know I'm ready for a break!

How to prep for the 4th...

1. Make a plan - whether it's a trip or beers & bbq, get something set.
2. Prepare some grub
- pico de gallo + blue corn tortilla chips=festive snack

- Miller Light, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Bud Light are just a few beers that are festive looking...Pabst being the most patriotic (but not as easy to find)
- Non-alcoholic beverages...red punch, blue punch, etc.
- American foods: fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, burgers and dogs
3. Get the extras - Sparklers and Streamers

4. Get ready
- Shades and Sunscreen
- Bug spray for fireworks time
- Simple outfit for all day long (I'll most likely wear stripes because I'm obsessed...) (Maybe you need a festive headband???)

What are your favorite 4th of July traditions?

Can't Do Clogs.

I have a can't do attitude about very few things, especially when it comes to trends and fashion. I just cannot bring myself to wear clogs............!!!!!!!

Regarding the strapless backless clogs, I especially have a problem. So hard to keep from flopping your feet against them and annoying your co-workers ahemmmmmm and so hard to just keep them on your feet in general. Regarding the neon ones...I mean don't get me wrong, I have some colorful shoes in my closet (cue Prada), but I cannot stomach the purple and neon yellow. These remind me a little too much of support shoes as well...sorry!!!

Does everyone else agree or am I just being ridiculously stubborn?
